The Belgium national team has been consistent and compatible in recent times. Despite having not won any international trophy they have been the No.1 team in FIFA rankings.
Belgium has always performed well at the World Cups and Euros reaching deep into the knockout stages.
This is due to the fact that they have some wonderful players in their ranks. Who has performed exceptionally for Belgium in the present and the past.
So, let’s bring up a few of these players and talk about them!
Thibaut Courtois
Courtois is a man built for the most difficult of situations. And he is one of the best Belgian goalkeepers of all time. The 27-year-old was the best goalkeeper in the 2018 World Cup, making more saves than any other shot-stopper, and he was especially impressive in the Red Devils’ 2-1 triumph over Brazil.
He was one of the best Belgian football players ever to grace the Premier League.
Eden Hazard
This man needs no introduction. Probably the best Belgium to play in the Premier League, Eden Hazard was a touch of class and poise when he played for the Chelsea blues.
Eden Hazard has already earned 100 caps and led Belgium to the semi-final of the World Cup in 2018 and was the outstanding player at the 2018 World Cup.
He was also instrumental in leading Belgium to play their first World Cup in 2014 after a 12-year absence.
Hazard also helped the Red Devils to make the quarter-finals of the 2016 Euros.
Romelu Lukaku
He might not make many people’s list but despite that fact, the Belgium striker who now plays for Chelsea is the country’s all-time top goalscorer. Netting 59 goals in 91 apparencies for Belgium, Romelu Lukaku is an exceptional talent and he is only 27!
The second-highest goal scorer is a staggering 27 goals behind the Chelsea striker.
Lukaku made his senior Belgium debut in 2010 at 17-years old, during a breakthrough season with Belgian side Anderlecht which saw the then-youngster score double figures in the league.
Since then, he has been a consistent name on the team sheet and has been instrumental for Belgium in all major international competitions.
Paul van Himst
Paul Van Himst is largely considered to be one of the greatest Belgian players of all time. During the 1960s, his extraordinary technical talents and prolific goal-scoring made him one of the most legendary players in international football.
His 81 caps included two major competitions, including the World Cup in Mexico in 1970. At 76, he is the oldest man on this list, and it is a credit to his abilities that so many admirers remembered him fondly. Between 1960 and 1974, he scored 30 goals in 81 games for the Red Devils, earning him the title of Belgium’s best player of the last 50 years in 2003.
Wilfried Van Moer
Wilfried Van Moer is widely regarded as one of the best Belgian soccer players of all time. He appeared in 57 games and scored 9 goals for the national team between 1966 and 1982. Van Moer was a member of Belgium’s World Cup teams in 1970 and 1982, as well as their Euro 1972 team, which finished third.
He also helped Belgium reach the finals of Euros 1980 edition when he was 35 years old!
